Who is Lu?

I’ll tell you who I am! I am you and you are me! You see within us all is a common thread that ties us together in this human experience. Feelings—emotions!

Feeling love, feeling fear, feeling joy and even feeling pain!
I am finally free and secure in all that makes me ME!
SINGER, ARTIST, CREATOR, INFLUENCER, LIGHT.

I don’t bring a vibe! I am THE Vibe! I have finally realized the POWER of the gift that resides on the inside of me—Energy=Vibration=Sound!

The sound of my voice singing! Piercing to the deepest places of your soul and depositing life, light and joy and raising your vibration!

If you had to select one word to define who you are, what would that word be and why?

Illuminator

What is your why?

My why is certainly most clear at the moment I am sitting in this coffee shop at 3:35pm on Friday, June 8!
Why? Because the world needs my unique gift and voice!

What is your purpose?

My purpose? To create content and music that resonates on a soul level. I think that what we all love most about music is the power it has to connect with our emotions and express what we feel, that is what I am here to create! I am here to create music and poetry and writings that help people reach the deeper places of their own human experience! The kind of music and writings that provokes thought, sheds light, heals and sparks growth in all who read and hear!

What habits and/or beliefs have you embraced in your life that have directly aligned to your success? How? Why?  

When we seek we find! I have always challenged and questioned EVERYTHING! I am a seeker of truth! This has had a major impact on my success journey because it’s led me to the truth and the foundation of what success in and of itself is!

Always check your foundation! I have always sought out growth and expansion and life has taught me to look within first. When we grow from the inside out, the external success (the better job, money, love, etc.) can arrive without resistance! For example, many people are chasing happiness, success and fulfillment out side of themselves. The truth is we have to work backwards! Happiness, success, love and wealth are an inside job. A friend of mine said to me recently, “Our gifts can only take us as far as our character can sustain us.” Thus, we have to look within frequently! For every new level we have to fortify our foundation for sustainability!

Most importantly I believe there are no limits! It took me a long to uproot a “limitation and lack” mindset! BUT look at what happened when I let it go for good! I wouldn’t be answering these interview questions if I was still governed by perceived limitations! I let it go and became free to share my love and light and voice with you!

What is most important to you in your life/career/mission?

Legacy! That I leave a legacy! Legacy is more than leaving wealth and property, although I’ll leave that too. I will elevate every person, channel, situation, organization and every single space and time that I am in. Through my music, my writings, my sound and my vibe! This is what is most important to me!
To add true value in all that I do!

Name a person who has influenced you? Someone who you look up to? Someone who has role modeled for you? Someone who has challenged you to become better/do more?

Well damn, that’s a lot of people to name so here’s a short list:

My mom-She had the courage to fight for a better life for my brother and me.

Mommy Arlette-She is an oracle of wisdom. She has taught me that growth is an endless journey! She models it in the life that she lives and the example of power and humility that she is.

Rebecca Munoz- My bestie boo! My soul sister! She has been an example of bravery and courage to go after whatever I want in life! She has also believed in me since we were little girls! She has a gift of seeing what others have to see before they see it! She sees me in the fullness of my success as an artist! This faith in me and my gifts, gives me energy, strength and the drive to keep at it!

Matt Gottesman- Matt and Becky…I mean REBECCA (lol) have a similar gift! Not only does everything they touch turn to gold, but they can see beyond the current moment! Matt has been an example of what happens when you do the work! He models authenticity in all that he does and it is the soul of his success! He also has challenged me to DO! JUST DO!!

All of these people challenge me to do better and I could not do it without my tribe (This is just a few to name, I am blessed with an amazing tribe of many)

What challenges have you had to overcome or that you are still overcoming to live as your best self?

I believe the greatest challenge I have overcome is loving myself unconditionally!

It has taken some serious digging to get to the root of where my own limitations and insecurities were originating. I used to believe that in order to be worthy of success, love or even the pursuit my music, I had to meet some mythical list of endless criteria. That belief was so flawed! I know now that I am worthy of first loving myself

WITHOUT limitation and without conditions! This has taken my work, my personal life, my belief system and my music to new level!

What lessons from your life do you feel like you could share with someone that would help them either avoid a pitfall or battle a similar obstacle?

Damn that’s a lot too!

The most important lesson I have learned and embraced is this:

We have the power to design the life we desire! We get to write our own story!!

NO MATTER what we have been through in our lives!

If you only knew the finer details of my history you too would believe that it is possible to do better, be better and change the course of our history!  This is not to say that I’m turning my nose up at the generations that precede me. I am instead stepping into my power and becoming the pioneer for change in my lifetime and beyond!

So I need all who read and give attention to this interview to know!

 Do you have a favorite quote? What does it mean to you?

This one can change by the day! Currently, my favorite quote is from a J.Cole song called Love Yourz

“No such thing as a life that’s better than yours”

The power in this phrase is that it calls me to be present in every aspect of my life! At every level and juncture of my journey I AM SUCCESSFUL! When I stumble and make mistakes—I am successful, for even in my failures I am able to rise do better moving forward!

This quote reminds to be grateful for every damn person, experience, resource etc. that is in my current experience!

It shifts my mindset from chasing to allowing!!
